How T-Shirt Sizing Works
T-Shirt Sizing is a simple and intuitive estimation technique for agile teams. Here's how to use it:
- Create or Join a Room: Start by creating a new room with a descriptive name or join an existing one using the provided 8-character code. The room creator is automatically assigned as "Admin."
- Set the Story Title: The Admin enters the title of the user story or task being estimated.
- Select Your Size: Each participant privately selects a t-shirt size representing their estimate:
- XS (X-Small): Trivial task, minimal effort
- S (Small): Simple task, low complexity
- M (Medium): Standard task, moderate effort
- L (Large): Complex task, significant effort
- XL (X-Large): Very complex, major effort
- XXL (XX-Large): Epic-sized, should be broken down
- Reveal Votes: Once everyone has voted, the Admin reveals the estimates, showing individual votes and the most common size.
- Discuss and Reset: Discuss any discrepancies, then reset votes for the next story.
T-Shirt sizing is perfect for high-level estimation and early planning phases when detailed estimates aren't needed.
