How It Works

Story Poker is a collaborative tool designed for agile teams to estimate story points in a fun and efficient way. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Create or Join a Room: Start by creating a new room with a descriptive name or join an existing one using the provided 8-character code. The room creator is automatically assigned as "Admin."
  2. Set the Story Title: The Admin enters the title of the user story or task being estimated.
  3. Select Your Estimate: Each participant privately selects a card representing their estimate from the Fibonacci-inspired sequence (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 100), "?" for uncertainty, or "☕" for a break. The "☕" option can be set as sticky, automatically selecting it for future rounds until deselected.
  4. Reveal Votes: Once everyone has voted, the Admin reveals the estimates, showing individual votes and the average (excluding non-numeric votes).
  5. Discuss and Reset: Discuss any discrepancies, then reset votes for the next story.

This process promotes consensus-building and helps teams align on effort estimates quickly. Enjoy your planning sessions!
